Screen looks distorted when viewed

When viewing The Scottish Investment Trust web site we recommend that your screen size is set to 1024x768 and that the colour display is set to High Color (16 bit).

How can you check this?

Select start, then Settings, then Control Panel

From the Start Menu choose Settings and Control Panel:

Select the display icon from the Control panel

Once the Control Panel is open double click on the Display Icon.

Select the Settings tab from the display panel

Then in the Display Properties window click on the Settings tab located in the far right-hand corner:

Change your Screen area to one thousand and twenty four pixels times seven hundred and sixty eight pixels.

You will be able to adjust the screen resolution from here.

Please note that The Scottish Investment Trust cannot accept liability for any damage to your personal computer on changing your settings. Please also note that if your monitor and computer are of a certain age, then it may not be possible to change settings as suggested.

Select High Colour from the list

Choose from the colour display: High Color (16 bit)

Please note that depending on your PC it may only be possible to choose a maximum colour depth of 65536 colours.

 

Problems displaying a page

Sometimes a page may not display as you would wish. This can be caused by issues such as missing graphics or elements being stored (cached) from a previous visit to our site.

If any such problems arise it is best to refresh your page. Click once on the refresh icon in your browser tool bar or, on your keyboard, press Ctrl and F5 together.

 

Changing your text size

If you find that the text is too small or too large there are ways to increase or decrease the font size. This is dependent on the type of browser you are using.

Select the View menu, then Text Size in Internet Explorer

If you are using Internet Explorer Version 5 or above you can change the text size by selecting the View menu, scrolling down to Text Size and choosing an alternative size.

Select View, then Increase Font in Netscape 4

If you are using Netscape Version 4, you can change the text size by going to the View menu and selecting Increase Font

Select View, then Text Size in Netscape 6 and above

If you are using Netscape Version 6, 7, you can change the text size by selecting the View menu, and then selecting Text Zoom.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox, you can change the text size by selecting the View menu, selecting Text Size and the selecting 'Increase CTRL++' or 'Decrease CTRL+-'

If you are using Mozilla Firefox, you can change the text size by selecting the View menu, selecting Text Size and the selecting 'Increase CTRL++' or 'Decrease CTRL+-'.

Select the 'View' menu at the top of the page, select 'Zoom' and then select the percentage you require.

If you are using Opera, you can change the text size by selecting the 'View' menu at the top of the page, select 'Zoom' and then select the percentage you require.

 

Changing the colours on our site

If you would like to change the colours on our site to suit your preferences, you can achieve this easily using your browser settings:

In Microsoft Internet Explorer

Access the

Access the "Tools" menu, then select "Internet Options".

From there, select the

Then, go back to

In Netscape Navigator

Access the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences".

From there, select "Appearance >> Colors", check the box labelled "Always use my colors, overriding document" and change the colours to suit your preferences.


In Mozilla Firefox

Access the "Tools" menu and select "Options".

From there, select "General" and then "Fonts and Colors".

Change the colours to suit your preferences.

Problems downloading or viewing documents

Our Literature Library contains documents which you can view and print off online - these are called PDFs (Portable Document Format). If you have accessibility problems viewing these documents then you can also use the accessibility tools provided by Adobe. These can be downloaded via the Adobe website.

Wherever possible ensure that your version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader is the most recent. When viewing a PDF document you can also save the document by clicking on the disk icon when in view mode within the Adobe Acrobat window

 

Can't access the calculator

If you find you can't access the calculator, or that nothing happens when you click onto the calculator link, this may be because you have your pop-up blocker function activated. Either go to your pop-up blocker configuration and add www.sit.co.uk to your list of permitted sites or follow the instructions below to view the calculator:

The right mouse click menu. 'Open in a New Window' is selected.

Right mouse click on the link and choose either Open or Open in New Window to open the calculator.
