At the AGM in Edinburgh today, shareholders re-elected the Chairman, Sir Angus Grossart, by an overwhelming majority.

25 February 2003: Annual General Meeting 2
The directors of The Scottish Investment Trust have noted the stated intentions through the columns of the press by a shareholder, Hermes Focus Asset Management, to demand that a new chairman of SIT be selected from outside the existing board, and for all the present directors to offer their resignations following the appointment of the new chairman so that he may select his own appointees as directors.

4 February 2003: Annual General Meeting
The Scottish Investment Trust PLC announces that its Chairman, Sir Angus Grossart, who is seeking re-election as a Director at the Annual General Meeting on 28th February, 2003, has decided to retire from the Board of the Trust when the process of the selection and appointment by the Board of his successor as Chairman has been completed. This process will start after the Annual General Meeting.

The Board of Scottish Investment Trust confirms that Hermes Focus Asset Management have indicated that they will oppose the re-election of the Chairman, Sir Angus Grossart, as a Director at the Company's AGM on 28 February 2003.
