Q What is the deadline for SIT ISA applications?

A Your application form and cheque must be with the Administrator, Halifax Share Dealing Ltd, by midday on 5 April or, if this is not a business day, midday on the last business day before 5 April, to ensure processing in the current tax year.

Q Does SIT have any suitable investments for children - or for saving for a child's future educational requirements?

A Certainly. SIT's STOCKPLAN: A Fying Start can easily be used to invest on behalf of a child. Of course, adults may use their own ISA allowance for any savings goal.

Q Is there a minimum time frame for investing in The SIT ISA or STOCKPLAN?

A No, but as with any equity investment, an investment in SIT should be regarded as a long-term investment. You may invest, subject to the minimum amount,when and as you wish. You can mix lump sums and regular payments, stop payments when you wish and start up again when it suits you. Remember, there are maximum allowable investments in ISAs in any tax year.

Q How do I find The Scottish Investment Trust's share price?

A SIT's shares are listed on the London Stock Exchange (as we are a 'PLC') - and, the price is listed daily in most of the broadsheet newspapers and on a number of financial web sites. It can also be found on the figures page of this site and through the link to the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

Q Who does SIT Savings' administration - and how do I reach them?

A The administrator for STOCKPLAN, STOCKPLAN: A Flying Start and The SIT ISA is Halifax Share Dealing Ltd (HSDL): 0845 850 0181.

Q What is a 'Global Growth' investment trust (such as SIT)?

A The global growth funds incorporate some of the UK's oldest, largest and best-known investment trusts. They are best described as striving to achieve a balance between sustained growth and acceptable levels of income, utilising a global investment strategy.

Q Is The Scottish Investment Trust managed by a particular fund management group?

A No. SIT is self-managed. Our fund managers work solely for the benefit of our stockholders.

Q May I purchase SIT stock units from an adviser?

A Certainly. SIT shares may be purchased directly from a stockbroker (including 'execution only' services) - and many UK intermediaries (IFAs, Solicitors and Accountants) provide independent advice on our range of investment schemes.

Q Who, precisely, is managing my investment?

A The investment team, led by the manager, employs a disciplined investment process to search for and analyse the most promising investment opportunities around the world. The investment team's sole concern is with the assets of The Scottish Investment Trust.

Q How do I make additional lump sum investment into my SIT scheme?

A For STOCKPLAN / STOCKPLAN: A Flying Start

Additional lump sums (minimum £250, there is no maximum) can be added at any time.

Simply write to the administrator quoting your STOCKPLAN account code and enclosing a personal cheque drawn on an account in your own name made payable to SIT STOCKPLAN.  Alternatively you can telephone the administrator on 0845 850 0181 to make  a lump sum investment using your debit card (Maestro or Delta).

Purchases of stock units are made daily.

For The SIT ISA

Additional lump sums (minimum £500 up to the ISA annual investment limits) can be added at any time up to the end of the tax year.

Simply write to the administrator quoting your ISA account code and enclosing a personal cheque drawn on an account in your own name made payable to The SIT ISA.

It is also possible, once an ISA has been opened, to make lump sum investments by debit card (Switch or Delta) by telephoning the administrator on 0845 850 0181.

Purchases of stock units are made daily.

Q How do I notify you of my change of address?

Please write to the SIT administrator, giving your old and new address, the date of your move and, if possible, your STOCKPLAN / ISA account code.

Please write to our registrar, Computershare Investor Services, giving your old and new address, the date of your move and, if possible, your reference number (which you will find on the top left hand corner of your stock certificate).

Alternatively you can download and complete the change of address form from Computershare’s website: www-uk.computershare.com/Investor/AccountManagement/UpdateAddress.asp and post it to Computershare.
