Investment limits

Maximum investment per person per tax year

The SIT ISA is a stocks and shares ISA.

The maximum total investment into an ISA per individual for the tax year 2012 - 2013 is £11,280.  The full £11,280 can be invested in a stocks and shares ISA with one provider.

Alternatively, up to £5,640 may be placed in a cash ISA and the balance can be invested in a stocks and shares ISA with either the same or another provider.

If you decide to purchase a cash ISA with another manager, you may still use The SIT ISA for your stocks and shares ISA.

An ISA may consist of:

  1. only stocks and shares up to the limit of £11,280

    or
  2. a combination of cash and stocks and shares up to the limit of £11,280. Within this, the cash limit is £5,640

Please bear in mind that in the same tax year you cannot invest in more than one cash ISA or more than one stocks and shares ISA - to do so constitutes a breach of ISA regulations.
